There are few countries in the world that are quite as distinctive as the African country of Egypt. Home to the some of the greatest treasures of the ancient world, Egypt is a country that is steeped in thousands of years of history and culture making it one of the best places in the world to take a trip if you’re interested in seeing sights. Taking holidays in Egypt to see the world famous Pyramids and Sphinx is something that everyone should do in their lifetime, but despite being the country’s most famous landmark, you’d be wrong for thinking that they are the only reason to spend some time in one of the best holiday destinations in the world.
An often neglected part of taking holidays in Egypt is the countries amazing underwater world which is accessible to tourists through scuba diving tours. You can take all the lessons you need while in the country or simply go out and dive if you already have the correct certification. What you’ll find is a whole new part of Egypt that’s totally different from the hot sand and busy towns you’ll normally explore.
Of course, all of these are totally optional experiences. If you’d rather just sit back and relax then even without the activities and history Egypt is still one of the best choices simply because it’s very hot all year around and the resorts are some of the best in the world. There are also more leisurely ways to see the country that might suit you a little better if you’re not quite used to the heat of the summer months, such as a relaxing cruise down the Nile – one of the largest rivers in the world.
The best time to visit Egypt can vary depending on what you’re specific preferences may be. Egypt can get very, very hot (usually close to 40 degrees) in the summer, so if that doesn’t sound like your sort of thing – and for many Brits, it’s not – then a trip in December or January is on the cards.
