Depending on exactly when Easter falls – April can be a tricky month for holidays. Because Easter is one of the few holidays that isn’t static, and because school holidays tend to arrange themselves around the Easter period, it can be difficult to know exactly when to plan a holiday.
Whether you need to be booking for those two weeks while yours kid are out of school or if you’re trying to save money on a budget getaway and want to make sure that the school holiday isn’t inflating your prices, you’ll need to work out when Easter falls. If you’re planning holidays in April, the first thing to do is check when Easter will be and find out when most schools break up.
Once you’ve worked out when the holidays are happening, than taking holidays in April can be a very rewarding experience, both in terms of having a great holiday adventure and hanging on to your money. Even parents with children in school who typically can’t take advantage of many last minute and cheap holiday deals will find that they’ll save money taking their family holidays in April rather than waiting until the busy summer months.
The great thing about holidays in April is that it’s right at the start of the summer season which means you don’t have to take a long haul flight in order to get somewhere sunny, and because the majority of holiday makers want to wait until summer, you’ll find both beaches and resorts to have a healthy number of tourists but not be totally filled to capacity. Beach resorts across Europe are subject to rising temperatures across the summer, including Cyprus, Greece and Spain.
Even the places that haven’t heated up yet make great destinations for holidays in April providing you would rather have a holiday centred on either indoor activities (a city break) or walking or hiking holidays. It’s also a great time to see the sites and avoid the queues in the many countries that fill up with tourist quickly in the summer months.
