With literally thousands of tour operators offering them and a huge range of options in terms of both flights and accommodation, what holiday deal offers you the best chance of a great holiday?
Taking a holiday deal at the last minute might be an option for many people and will result in huge savings - providing you know the best time to book! Booking last minute will rarely save your money during the school holidays when things are really busy for the tourism industry. However, booking last minute just before or after the summer holidays can net you huge savings if you’re willing to be flexible about your destination. Doing so can mean a holiday deal that can save literally hundreds of pounds.
Of course, a last minute holiday deal is only really useful for people who don’t have many responsibilities, so if you’ve got a job that you can’t simply take time off from, or indeed if you have children who have to stay in school during the term they are simply not an option. You can still find a great holiday deal by booking in advance, however.
The important part of booking in advance is to plan carefully and be aware of your options. Once you’ve decided on a destination take a look around to see where you can find the best deal on a deposit for an early booking. Considering alternatives such as house swapping or renting a villa or cottage rather than a hotel room could net you some great savings as well. Don’t forget to also take a look at all inclusive holidays but remember these to tie you down to the resort in a way a half board holiday would not. They work best in countries where the food and drink is likely to be expensive.
