Although virtually unheard of only a decade ago, a last minute holiday is now one of the major ways that UK holiday makers choose to book their holidays. When deciding if a last minute holiday deal or booking in advance is best for you, it’s best to take a look at your personal situation. Generally, the easier it is for you to pack and leave the better deal you’ll find on a last minute holiday. If you have kids however, or both you and your partner work and can’t quickly take time off when you like, last minute holidays aren’t always the best idea.

If you’re self employed, retired or happen to be enjoying the student life however, a last minute holiday is one of the best ways to save a large amount of money and get a holiday with the minimum amount of fuss. The best places to grab an excellent last minute holiday deal on tend to be beach holidays to the more popular resorts such as Tenerife or Ibiza. That’s not to say you can’t find a deal on a last minute holiday to somewhere a bit more exotic if you look around though.

If you have a destination that you’re determined to visit you may have to wait some time and keep checking out holiday pages before a deal comes up. This can work well in the long run but if you really just have to get away as soon as possible, your best bet is to loosen your requirements a little and consider each offer as you find it. Rather than setting your hopes on a last minute holiday to Turkey and having to wait for a deal, you can instead simply aim to find a 7 night beach holiday at a lively resort and chances are, something will always be available!
